BANDHANI

Bandhani is made by pinching tiny sections of fabric and tying each one off with thread before dyeing — a single piece can involve thousands of these knots, each one a small resist point that becomes a dot once untied. The rhythm of it is almost meditative to watch, and impossible to rush.

The dot patterns that result — sometimes forming larger motifs like waves or flowers — are entirely a product of where the knots were placed, which means no two pieces are ever perfectly identical.

We wanted Bandhani in the edit specifically for that imperfection — it's one of the few crafts where the human hand is visible in the finished pattern itself.
