CHANDERI

Chanderi weaves silk and cotton together on the same loom, producing a fabric with a distinctive sheer, glowing quality — sheer enough to see light through, but with enough body to hold embroidery or a woven border. The town of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh has produced this weave since at least the 13th century.

It's one of the more forgiving heritage textiles for warm climates, which made it an obvious fit for pieces meant to be worn well beyond a single wedding season.
