PATOLA
Patola is a double-ikat weave, which means the pattern is dyed into both the vertical and horizontal threads separately, before weaving even starts. The weaver has to calculate exactly where every color will land once the threads cross — there's no printing or embroidery to fix an error afterward.
A single saree can take months, sometimes longer, produced by a small number of family workshops that still work the traditional way. We're drawn to it for the same reason it's endangered: it rewards patience in a way almost nothing else in fashion still does.
We're building this edit slowly and honestly, sourcing pieces that respect the actual time this weave requires rather than rushing a supply chain that was never meant to move fast.
